Hotel Schillerhof, Weimar, Germany
The building is a registered individual monument and is located in the redevelopment area "Weimar city centre". Relevant from an architectural point of view is the remodelling of the façade by the architect Rudolf Zapfe (1906). The central location on Schillerstraße between Schiller's residence and Theaterplatz is relevant from an urban planning perspective. Archaeologically relevant is the location on the old city wall, on which the Schillerstraße façade is founded. The design concept envisages bringing the group of old and new building façades into the context of the hotel under a common roof. This new element takes up the roof shape typical of the site and is translated into a modern design language through the use of terracotta-coloured metal slats.
