A new high-rise project is nearing completion in Jinan. The double skyscraper rises in a neighbourhood surrounded on all sides by streets. In the midst of the grid-like urban environment, it represents an open and dynamic new building complex with its curved cubature and staggered heights. The two diagonally offset high-rise buildings are connected by a low-rise building that leads to the urban surroundings and provides access to a green inner courtyard. The design follows the idea of merging architecture and urban space. A façade recess on the two lower floors creates a transition zone between the interior and exterior spaces. This gives the office complex additional lightness. Inside, a publicly accessible green inner courtyard has been laid out as an island of tranquillity inviting people to linger.
The elevated structures allow visitors to "flow through" the atrium as a public urban space. The cubatures and the two-part façade design give the office complex a distinctive character that stands out clearly from the surrounding urban environment. The façade is divided into two parts and covered on the street side by a system of vertical slats. These guide the view around the building's curves in a small-part rhythm and lend the outer shell a shimmering metallic sheen. Towards the inner courtyard, the office complex has a glazed façade that provides a view into the inner structure of the high-rise towers. The roof zones of the two high-rise buildings of different heights are inclined towards the inner courtyard and thus break up the overall complex. On the upper floors, large air spaces form the end and offer space for events.
